HOW TO OBTAIN MEDICAL LICENSE IN KUWAIT
License granted by the Ministry of Health in Kuwait. After successful assessment and passing the Ministry of Health exam entities its holder to practice in the State of Kuwait.
The Kuwait Ministry of Health is regulative body of the Healthcare Sector in Kuwait and ensures excellence in Healthcare for the population of Kuwait State.
Medical License Department of the Ministry of Health is responsible to issue professional physician and dentist licenses to work in both, the government and the private medical sectors.
In Kuwait all the procedures regarding issues of medical license are undertaken by the hospital/medical institute physician is going to work for.
To work as a Consultant and Senior Consultant in Kuwait, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements:
American specialty Board Certificate
UK Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (C.C.S.T)
Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register or western qualifications
Plus a minimum of 5 years (post board/certificate) experience at consultant level is required.
Licensing
All Health Professionals are required to obtain their licensure prior to practicing in any healthcare facility in Kuwait. Procedure time takes 3 – 6 months.
Eligibility or Criteria.
The medical institution or the applicant must submit the request.
The applicant must pass a personal interview.
The applicant must pass a medical check-up.
A primary approval must be obtained from the Medical License Committee.
To work as a Consultant and Senior Consultant in Kuwait, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements:

The scientific certificates and certificates of practical experience must be authenticated to request the professional license.
The required documents to start application licensing system in Kuwait are the following:
1. Letter from the applicant to the Ministry of Health requesting to issue professional license. |
2. Applicant’s scientific certificates. |
3. Copy of the nationality certificate. |
4. Copy of the civil ID. |
5. Three (3) personal photos. |
6. Document stating that the applicant is a member in Kuwait Medical Association. |
7. For non-Kuwaiti doctors. |
8. Letter from the applicant to the Ministry of Health requesting to issue professional license. |
9. Applicant’s scientific certificates. |
10. Certificates of experience. |
11. Copy of the professional license in the applicant’s home country. |
12. Copy of the passport. |
13. Three (3) personal photos. |
14. Document stating that the applicant is a member in Kuwait Medical Association, for Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti doctors. |
All documents must be translated to English (Legal Translation)
Procedures
Visit the Medical License Department of the Ministry of Health and submit the required documents and the application form
Note: For Kuwaiti applicants, the applicant in person or the applicant’s employer (Dispensary/center/hospital) may submit the request. For non-Kuwaiti applicants, the clinic owner, the Kuwaiti physician, or the medical institutions may submit the request
Fill the service application form. The documents are reviewed in the department and scientific certificates are sent to the Ministry of Higher Education for equivalency. Then, the request is presented to the specialty committee for an interview
After passing the interview, the request is presented to the Medical License Committee for issuing primary approval and temporary license, for Kuwaiti applicants. Non-Kuwaiti applicants, also, obtain residence in work location
Pay the fees due; the permanent license is issued. This license is valid for five years, for Kuwaiti applicants; and for two years, for non-Kuwaiti applicants
